The Rock Pub

See The Rock Pub on here. Our visit to this city was centered around attending The Strokes concert, and quite serendipitously, we found ourselves at a pub where we crossed paths with someone humorously dubbed “BKK Alex Turner.” The entire band put on an impressive performance, with the lead vocalist flawlessly belting out numerous songs without a hint of hoarseness.

What’s more, there was an enthralling bass solo that caught our attention, and even the waitstaff displayed their musical prowess. The libations on offer, particularly the beer and drinks, were of high quality, albeit a tad on the pricey side. However, given that the band played a medley of our all-time favorite songs, we found the expenditure to be justifiable. Regrettably, we missed the chance to inquire about the band’s actual name. The heavy metal pub is very close to the BTS Ratchathewi Station as you can see on the Google map.

(As a side note, their repertoire also included tracks from Radiohead, Oasis, Two Door Cinema Club, among others. But owing to the lead vocalist’s striking resemblance to Alex Turner, we affectionately dubbed him with that moniker, complete with a good-natured chuckle.)

As for the cost per person, it typically ranged from ฿200 to ฿300. This establishment took us by surprise as a remarkable rock music venue. The acoustics were impeccable, the stage setup was impressive, and the sound system delivered a powerful punch.

The patrons exuded a welcoming rock/metal/indie vibe, creating a congenial atmosphere. During our visit, we had the pleasure of witnessing the Chocolate Cosmos performing their regular Sunday gig – a superb cover band specializing in British indie pop and rock. Hearing classics from the likes of The Smiths, The Cure, Blur, and Talking Heads in Thailand was indeed a rare treat.
